Crazy in love

As a psychologist in my other life, Emma, Gordon and I thought it was hilarious that I was marrying two psychiatrists.  Surely there had to be a line there? A Freudian slip?  But I digress...

These two are simply made for each other.  After both studying the same specialty and with mutual friends, you would have thought they might have bumped into each other long before they did.  Maybe Perth is not so small after all?

Early in the ceremony I broke the news that in fact, I'd already married Emma and Gordon several months previously, in November 2012.  The date had been chosen for auspicious reasons, to bring good fortune upon the marriage, in recognition of Gordon's Taiwanese heritage.  While we did share a glass of champagne together at the time, the real celebration of their marriage was in March 2013, surrounded by almost 100 of their dearest family and friends.

With Dolce Ensemble playing Canon in D, Emma walked up the aisle on the arm of her father to join Gordon and reaffirm their vows of marriage.

Gordon's friend Kasan read Being a Part of You

When I am away from you, I am still with you.
When my eyes are closed, I still see you.
When I am awake, I still dream of you.
When I feel I have everything, I still need you.
And no matter what, I will always love you.

It is so wonderful to be able to incorporate traditions into a wedding ceremony.  After Emma and Gordon kissed to celebrate their marriage, Gordon's father Dennis presented a commemorative tile to them both.  Emma broke the tile by stomping on it, representing the bride and groom's unity leading to many children.  To the amusement of the guests, the tile shattered into about 27 pieces.

Emma and Gordon were married at Matilda Bay foreshore.  They celebrated their reception at Mosmans Restaurant and as you can see from the photos, Emma changed into a red cheongsam at one point in the evening.

These are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet.  Knowing they're out there day (and night) supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community gives me a lovely warm feeling inside.

Emma and Gordon's wedding was planned with Jenn Veza from The Original Wedding Company.
