I've been wanting to blog about Lauren and Aidan's amazing Hills wedding for ages and resolved this winter to get back into sharing some more gorgeous ceremonies from the last couple of years.
Lauren and Aidan were such a fantastic couple and I loved their choice of ceremony venue. The Kalamunda History Village isn't somewhere I'd ever been. I certainly would never have thought of it as a wedding ceremony location. I do now.....
The Kalamunda History Village provided such a wonderful backdrop for Lauren and Aidan's wedding and the staff (many of them volunteers) could not have been more helpful. Being 'Hills' residents themselves, Lauren and Aidan didn't have to travel far for the wedding and, better still, the reception was held at their beautiful home in Mt Helena.
Luke and Angela (both in the bridal party) 'set up' Lauren and Aidan in 2011. Neither were keen on a blind date but were strongly persuaded and sparks flew instantly. Aidan proposed in the USA in 2013. He'd hatched a plan and just about everyone, except Lauren, was in on it. Aidan had asked Lauren's father, had the ring made in Australia and then travelled for six weeks from the East to the West Coast of America and on the end of that iconic jetty at Santa Monica Pier, after 4500km of driving, he proposed.
Weddings are a great opportunity to not only celebrate the love of two people, but to acknowledge the long lasting relationships of others. Aidan and Lauren's parents had been married for a combined total of 72 years and Aidan's grandparent had recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary - what wonderful models of long lasting love they have.
I loved that Lauren and Aidan chose really diverse music for their ceremony, reflecting their personalities perfectly:
Processional Love You 'Til the End (The Pogues)
Signing Book of Love (Peter Gabriel) and Don't Change (Andrew Farris, acoustic version)
Recessional You Make My Dreams Come True (Halls and Oates).
Lauren and Aidan's beautiful wedding in 2014 was captured by Carley for Anna Rose Photography. The stunning florals were by Perth foothills florist Annaliese of Signature Floral Design and the wedding was styled by Kristy from Flights of Fancy by Kristy. Micktric Events provided the lighting and furniture and props were from Pretty Willow. Check out Kristy's blog for more images from the day and the full list of vendors.
