Ruth and Stephen, Wildflower Pavilion, Kings Park
published on: January 28 2012 filed in Recent Weddings

Ruth and Stephen travelled all the way from England to be married in the Australian summer and boy it was a little warmer than the - 3 degrees they left behind!
Ruth and Stephen got in touch with me early in 2011 - Ruth's sister Kate had attended another ceremony I performed a couple of years ago and recommended me. We exchanged emails, had a little chat one evening using Skype and arranged for the official paperwork to all be completed remotely. The happy couple only arrived in Perth a few days before the wedding, right in the middle of a Western Australian heatwave! We were then able to meet in person, finalise the details of the ceremony and everything was prepared for the big day.
Kings Park is such a beautiful venue for wedding ceremonies and people from overseas are always astounded by its beauty and its sheer size and variety of flora and fauna with such close proximity to the city.
Ruth's parents both travelled from England to see their daughter be married. With Pachabel's Canon in D in the background Keith proudly escorted his daughter up the aisle to stand hand in hand with Stephen before joining his wife Lesley. Ruth's sister Kate (who lives in Perth) was bridesmaid in a coral dress and young Grace did a terrific job as flower girl. Stephen's friend Darren had flown all the way from New Zealand to be best man and made sure everyone had some cold water before the ceremony started.
It was a very beautiful and intimate ceremony. The Wildflower Pavilion has wonderful acoustics and with only a small number of guests, we formed a circle together and everyone felt as though they were a part of the ceremony.
It was lovely to share a glass of champagne with Ruth and Stephen as we toasted their marriage after the signing of the legal paperwork. The dinner following was at Matilda Bay Restaurant and Bar in Crawley.
Ruth and Stephen hope to settle permanently in Australia. I wish you both every happiness for the future.
